Senior Java Developer

The Company

Salt Australia is excited to have partnered with one of Australia’s leading Financial Services organisations based in the Sydney CBD, who is currently seeking a Senior Java developer to join their highly innovative Markets Technology team on a permanent basis.

As a Senior Java Developer, you will be responsible for promoting good agile, development, testing practices; assisting developers with their build, test and deployment pipelines. You will build solutions with a focus on automation, scalability, maintainability and resilience.

Key accountabilities will include:

Lead and build solutions with a focus on automation and scalability in cloud-based software environments
Mentor and manage other team members on technical best practices and skill improvement
Able to critically think and articulate various designs to colleagues with supporting logic demonstrated with diagrams
Accountable for initial diagnosis of problems, for a system or sub-system and then applying known solutions
Work within a team and as individuals to analyse business procedures and user requirements in order to establish system requirements
Have an overall passion for investigating root cause of system behaviour and pass on that knowledge to colleagues
Ability to assess effect and consider cost/benefits for the company and clients of decision outcomes.

Experience:

Proven technology experience, ideally within Banking or Finance industry having FX exposure
Expertise across Java, Cloud and Linux disciplines
Proven knowledge in AWS and other cloud technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Advanced experience and understanding with Java based Microservices using Kafka and other API’s
Strong level of coaching and mentoring other team members
Experience and expertise with Software Delivery skills (CI/CD, Automated Deployments exc.)
