SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Permanent position ($140,000 plus super, plus 10% bonus)

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be an essential part of the Software Engineering team and will help to design, develop, deploy & maintain various projects running on-prem and in AWS. You will also help to improve the architecture of the systems using the latest technology possible and contribute to the build, development, and maintenance of software solutions on a global scale.

We’re looking for candidates with extensive experience in senior positions as part of a development team, as well as technical expertise in cloud-based setups like AWS in taking a Cloud-First approach, and extensive hands-on experience with JVM languages, microservice driven architectures, and test-driven development.

Responsibilities:

· Develop new and maintain existing API & core functionalities of various large-scale complex projects and microservices.

· Develop new and maintain existing domain registry connections, external provider connections, features, products, and services.

· Develop, continue, and maintain databases from design, connection, data storage, data validation, and performance.

· Develop new and maintain existing unit & integration tests for various projects.

· Assist in platform migrations.

· Take ownership right from the technical design through to deployment of complex new solutions and improvements to existing functionality in your projects

· Contribute to the ongoing design and architecture of our evolving platforms and services.

· Play an important part in the SDLC – Code reviews, planning, design, documentation etc.

Key experience & skills:

· An extensive track record of software development in Java & J2EE.

· Extensive experience writing beautifully clean, efficient and maintainable code and are committed to maintaining high availability and performance standards

· Solid experience with Spring, Hibernate, TDD, REST API integrations (consuming and exposing), Object-oriented concepts, design patterns, multi-threading, XML/JSON parsers, agile methodologies, writing complex but efficient queries in MYSQL or PostgreSQL, developing in CI/CD environments, GIT and good technical documentation practices

· Some experience with developing containerized applications that run in AWS or similar cloud platforms.

· Work is predominantly in the backend, but some knowledge of Javascript, HTML, CSS, and modern toolsets is highly desirable

· Solid problem-solving skills to develop quick yet sound solutions to resolve complex issues.

· Self-motivated, independent, detail-oriented, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a responsible team player.

· Very good communication skills, both written and verbal, as collaborating with teams globally is a key to success

· Ability to work independently on large features and complex bugs.
