Solution Architect – Cyber Security

This role leads, prioritises and develops Solution architecture designs, collaborating with IT Services groups as well as with business and IT leaders.

The Cyber Security Solution Architect will work closely with the Enterprise Architects and other key members to develop, maintain a range of architecture artefacts, including Logical and Physical Solution Designs, Patterns, Detailed Designs, also providing inputs to roadmaps and technology/platform strategies.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Design, consult and provide quality assurance of complex Security, Cloud, End-User & related domain solutions across:

  • AWS Cybersecurity controls such as CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Inspector, Shield, etc.
  • Azure and M365 Cybersecurity controls such as Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, etc.
  • Data loss prevention controls, such as M365 DLP controls and CASB.
  • Web application protection technologies, such as web application firewalls.
  • Network segmentation and network access control technologies.
  • Endpoint protection controls, such as Defender, Ivanti App Control, Mobile Device Management, etc.
    • Assisting other Solution Architects in the Cybersecurity elements of their projects. This may include:

  • Participating in requirements gathering processes regarding required Cybersecurity controls.
  • Reviewing the Cybersecurity controls of proposed solutions.
  • Documenting the solution’s Cybersecurity controls in Solution Design documents.
    • Participating in Information Classification of new systems.
    • Participating in threat and vulnerability assessments of new systems or upgrades to existing systems.
    • Assisting project teams with requirements gathering regarding Cybersecurity Controls.
    • Providing assistance during procurement processes, such as reviewing Cybersecurity controls included in vendor proposals.
    • Ensure all solutions designs and related artefacts are fit for purpose.
    • Provide thought leadership with key stakeholders.
    • Work within the Architecture and Solutions team to develop or enhance reusable IP such as reference architectures.
    • Contribute to the Architecture Working Group and Architecture Review Board providing quality assurance across all architecture artefacts.
    • Define and maintain the end-to-end lifecycle of architecture artefacts including Solution & Detail Designs, Patterns, Position/Options papers and Reference Architecture by collaborating with stakeholders.
    • Lead Solution Architectures across projects and initiatives, whilst ensuring solutions built adhere with Architecture Principles and further progress to target state architecture.
    • Lead analysis of the business’ future-state capabilities and future (and current) IT environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend options for improvement to support and enable the delivery of Value for the organisation.
    • Lead and facilitate the creation of governance, assurance and standards to guide Architecture decision making, ensuring that the optimal governance structure and compliance activities are associated with EA compliance.

    What you’ll bring:

    • 5+ years success in working across Cybersecurity programs.
    • Cybersecurity expertise and experience in the following domains is required:
    • Microsoft 365.
    • Common SaaS applications, such as Salesforce.
    • Network and server infrastructure.
    • Industry certifications relating to Cybersecurity, such as CISSP, Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect, AWS Certified Security – Specialty – preferred.
    • Highly collaborative and supportive of business and of its ideas and strategies. Comfortable, experienced, and accomplished at working with senior business executives, and able to push back in a professional and diplomatic way.
    • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies, platforms and processing environments including working across a range of cloud security solutions (preference AWS) and on-premises technologies.
    • Practical in approach to decision making and problem solving that is principle-based.
    • Good understanding of strategic and new and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models. Able to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies.
    • Good understanding of product management, agile principles and development methodologies and capability of supporting agile teams by providing advice and guidance on opportunities, impact, and risks, taking account of technical and architectural debt
    • Ability to work at varying levels of detail, from high level component/logical architecture to low level detail design.
