Data Engineer

3-month initial contract – with extensions

I am working with a huge consultancy who are looking for a Data Engineer to join them on an initial 3-month contract.

As a Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining their data processing systems. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and other cross-functional teams to ensure their data infrastructure meets the needs of their business.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing, constructing, testing, and maintaining highly scalable data management systems.
• Designing and implementing efficient ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to move data from various sources into their data warehouse.
• Building robust, real-time data pipelines for analytics and reporting purposes.
• Optimizing and improving existing database systems for performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Collaborating with data scientists and analysts to understand their data processing needs and provide appropriate solutions.
• Ensuring data security, integrity, and availability throughout the data lifecycle.
• Keeping up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in data engineering.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong background in data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
• Hands-on experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Flink.
• Solid understanding of database management systems, both relational and NoSQL.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
