Database Specialist

Technical responsibilities:

• Authenticating data
• Knowledge in database management best practices.
• Monitoring and maintaining the performance on all databases.
• Installing and configuring different database’s structure languages.
• Checking and confirming data integrity.
• Familiarly with database queries.
• Knowledge of databases design and theories.
• Ability to work with data architect.
• Extracting and/or loading DB data.
• Setting up Security measures.
• Ensuring all system/security patching and upgrades are applied
• Supports the testing and development environments
• Maintain databases for Mission Platforms.
• Responsible for end-to-end resolution of all issues related to Database in a cloud, local infrastructure setup.
• Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
• Provide 3rd level support for all databases related queries optimizations.
• Create Data Flow design and present the approach to the stake holders.
• Ensure that the data is normalized to optimize storing of the data and query execution optimization.
• Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
• Create and maintain root cause analysis of technical issues.
• Interact with the Engineering Team on specific incidents and on daily operational subjects.
• Proactively administer to prevent incidents related to databases.
• Optimize queries and draft query optimization plans.
• Strong understanding of Column based data formats and compression techniques, e.g. Parquet, ORC.
• Ensure the loading of data into the Databases within the agreed upon time.
• Troubleshooting Data Loading issues and data loaders in a Data Warehouse environment.

Skills Required:

• Assess the current database solution and plan for enhancements
• Strong technical and functional skills with all aspects related to maintaining all databases of the organization.
• Proactively administer to prevent incidents related to databases.
• Responsible for end-to-end resolution of all issues related to cloud, local infrastructure, and IT security.
• Provide third level support for all databases related queries.
• Build patching and upgrade roadmap of all databases, then implementing them after taking all approvals and confirmations.

Hadoop, HBase, MySQL, MS-SQL DB, Oracle DB, Mongo DB, Postgres DB, Green Plum
