Senior MongoDB Engineer

6-month initial contract – with extensions

I am working with a digital consultancy who are looking for an expert in MongoDB to join them on an initial 6-month contract:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing MongoDB databases, ensuring they operate at peak performance, scalability, and reliability.

You will work closely with their development and infrastructure teams to design, implement, and maintain database solutions that meet the needs of our business.

Your expertise will be crucial in driving data-driven initiatives and supporting the development of high-performance applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain MongoDB databases to support scalable and high-performance applications.
• Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.
• Develop and enforce database best practices, including data modeling, indexing, and query optimization.
• Collaborate with development teams to design and implement data solutions that align with application requirements.
• Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to safeguard critical data.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Stay current with the latest MongoDB features, tools, and best practices, and apply them to improve database performance and efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a MongoDB Engineer or in a similar role.
• Strong expertise in MongoDB database design, performance tuning, and administration.
• Proficiency in data modeling, indexing, and query optimization techniques.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools specific to MongoDB.
• Familiarity with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery practices in MongoDB.
• Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript is a plus.
