Job Title: AWS Data Engineer
Duration: 12-Month Renewable Contract
Location: Cape Town CBD (4 Days On-Site Per Week)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated AWS Data Engineer to join a leading retailer in Cape Town. This mid-level role offers the opportunity to work on exciting analytics-driven projects within a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in building and maintaining scalable data solutions using AWS technologies. Certification in AWS will be advantageous but is not a strict requirement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes using AWS tools and services.
- Work closely with analytics teams to support business intelligence and reporting requirements.
- Optimize data workflows for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of data solutions with existing systems.
- Ensure data quality, security, and compliance with relevant standards and policies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data issues promptly.
- Perform data analysis and profiling to support decision-making processes.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of experience as a Data Engineer, with a focus on AWS tools and technologies.
- Strong understanding of AWS services such as S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, Athena, and EMR.
- Hands-on experience with ETL pipelines and data migration in cloud environments.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other scripting languages.
- Familiarity with analytics and data visualization tools.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to work with large data sets and identify trends or anomalies.
- AWS certification (preferred but not required).
