SAP Data Steward – Master Data Governance 6-Month Contract | Two Positions Available
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for two experienced SAP Data Stewards to support a large-scale SAP transformation program. These roles focus on improving SAP master data quality, ensuring consistency, and driving data governance within the organization. While the overarching responsibilities are similar, one role specializes in Materials Management and Plant Maintenance, while the other focuses on Business Partner and Finance.
Overall Job Purpose
Facilitate the improvement of SAP master data quality across key functional areas.
Provide leadership, analysis, and technical expertise to support the development of robust technology and data solutions.
Create deliverables to align the organization’s “to be” and “as is” master data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Master Data Stewardship (Applicable to Both Roles):
Perform data profiling to identify duplicates, incompleteness, inconsistencies, and other quality issues.
Collaborate with solution owners, functional data stewards, and the data migration team to address residual data migration issues.
Develop and refine governance standards, policies, and guidelines for SAP master data based on functional feedback and business requirements.
Identify and report compliance and operational risks related to master data quality.
Perform data cleaning activities and mass updates resulting from business or operational changes.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to establish a single source of truth for master data.
Investigate and resolve data issues affecting specific processes or reports in collaboration with functional data stewards.
Compile training material and enable end-users involved in master data creation processes.
Actively support continuous improvement efforts to enhance data quality and governance practices.
2. Role-Specific Focus Areas:
Materials Management & Plant Maintenance:
Oversee data quality and consistency for Material master data across functions.
Address specific master data issues in Plant Maintenance and Materials Management processes.
Support governance standards and risk management tailored to operational data in supply chain and maintenance contexts.
Business Partner & Finance:
Focus on Business Partner and Finance-related master data to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Collaborate with functional teams to address and solve master data issues in areas like vendor/customer accounts and financial records.
Establish governance practices specific to finance and business partner master data to support financial operations.
Qualifications & Experience
A relevant tertiary qualification is required.
Minimum 5+ years of SAP project experience.
Deep understanding of SAP master data, with expertise in:
Materials Management and Plant Maintenance (Role 1).
Business Partner and Finance (Role 2).
Experience drafting data governance policies and procedures.
Strong data analysis skills with the ability to solve complex issues.
Experience with master data cleaning, migration, and alignment.
Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
