IT Systems Administrator

We are seeking a skilled IT professional in a front-line support role to work closely with our scientists in support of the current software and the hardware estate. The role is both stimulating and rewarding, suitable for strong problem solvers who have worked with a diverse range of specialist applications who will enjoy a highly engaging environment .

The ability to work across a range of issues of varying scale and complexity alongside highly skilled clients, is particularly valued. Previous experience in a scientific IT setting is desirable, but not essential.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Delivering outstanding onsite support and assistance to lab-based colleagues in a proactive, flexible, and constructive way
• Diagnosing and resolving software and hardware incidents for internal users
• Ensuring feedback related to IT issues is provided in a timely manner to all requests
• Providing hands-on support to the Stevenage lab (onsite) and remote support to the Edinburgh and Crick Lab as and when required

Qualifications and Skills

• Two or more years in 2nd line support.
• Linux Admin and support skills minimum of 2 years of experience
• Good experience in using MS Azure, MS Office 365, Freshdesk, AgressoNVQ Level3/ A level in any science subject/ BSc in IT, Computer Science or relevant field, or equivalent industry experience.Ability to communicate at all levels of technical expertise and seniority, inside and outside the organization, both verbally and in writing.
• Experience in Life Sciences / Pharma/ Biotech – highly desirable
