An exciting opportunity for a Senior Platform Engineer to join a forward thinking and growth focused international consulting firm looking to hire Senior Platform Engineers for an innovative new technology project.
An initial 6-month Inside IR35 contract for an experienced Platform Engineer looking to embark on the next step up in their corporate career. Please see below for full contract details:
NOTE: Based in Swindon, on site ONCE a week.
Essential Skills:
- Experience working with infrastructure and/or Development teams to deliver platforms into a production environment.
- Understanding of Serverless technologies.
- Experience working within a DevOps and Agile culture.
- Supporting a PCI (Payment Card Industry) DSS compliant environment.
- Cloud migration experience.
- AWS infrastructure and applications Design, management, and implementation.
- Infrastructure as code standards (Terraform, CloudFormation, Puppet or Ansible).
- Building and deploying/managing container technologies, ideally ECS.
- Creating/Managing deployment pipelines.
- Experience with one or more object-oriented programming skills, i.e., Java, Python, Go or scripting (Groovy, Shell).
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Lead Engineers and delivery teams to define and deliver the required AWS capability for a given project or initiative.
- Create and test IaC using Terraform meeting published standards.
- Contribute to the Cloud Platforms CoE, identifying and promoting improvements to processes, tools, standards etc.
- Ensure that deliverables are production-ready, having completed architectural review with appropriate documentation and operational handover.
- Support delivery teams with expertise in AWS to enable them to self-serve.
- My client is embarking on a programme that will transform its payment processing platform, re-architecting from an on-prem monolith to a cloud-native microservice-based architecture.
- You will be responsible for the delivery of IaC and cloud-based services that support the evolution to a cloud-first platform, supporting delivery teams to re-architect and migrate services to AWS.
- You will have an understanding of “platform as a product” and will use this experience to identify and deliver tools and services that benefit the delivery team.
- Successful delivery of AWS capability based on the project scope and part of the defined roadmap, ensuring standards and set and followed.
- Identify improvements that will support a safer and resilient AWS environment.
- Teams are supported to enable them to do more within suitable guardrails.
- Promoting the concepts of DevOps and Agile with all projects and interactions.
