Senior Test Engineer

Requirements

We are looking for talented and enthusiastic Senior Test Engineer to join the team on contract for 3 months. As a company built on a reputation of quality products, with an emphasis on delivery, a growing development team is a core component of this. You will report into our Head of Engineering and will join a team made up of Typescript, Testing and Infrastructure Engineers.

You will work with the wider project team to understand how we are resolving the product and business needs of our clients and truly understanding the full end-to-end experience expected for the product. Our Test Engineers are also responsible for reviewing everything that is built at our client to ensure it is the expected standard.

You’ll be responsible for testing innovative new products. Our projects are often mobile products, so whilst you won’t be expected to know every device, some experience working with a variety of devices would be beneficial. You’ll be joining at an exciting time where we are looking to considerably enhance what we have to support the next stage of growth.

You’ll work with:

  • Test Engineers – work collaboratively to deliver projects, share and absorb knowledge and expertise
  • Product and Delivery team – work collaboratively to estimate and plan projects, translate specification into suitable test suite for end-to-end, automation and manual testing, work collaboratively on triaging of issues, work collaboratively to deliver the product and improve process used on project, arm them with information to ensure clients can be kept up to date
  • Engineering team – work collaboratively to deliver the project by carrying out meaningful testing and moving tickets to ‘done’
  • Clients – represent Quality Assurance, leading them through the process and theory behind QA outputs, enabling them to have thoughtful interaction with us, provide key deliverables such as Test Strategy, Test Plan, Test Run Reports

What you need?

  • Some experience testing against different AWS tools/resources (e.g. Lambda, IAM, DynamoDB, ECS, API Gateway, etc)
  • Solid background in manual testing and a keen desire to develop automation testing expertise (if not already in place)
  • Thorough understanding of agile development methods
  • Desire to contribute to the continuous improvement of the QA function within the company
  • Experience of testing APIs and SDKs
  • Be comfortable presenting and articulating results of tests
  • Quick to pick up new technologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self starter, able to work on your own initiative
  • Effective time management skills

Other desirable skills and tools

  • Familiarity with at least test automation frameworks and programming languages
  • Familiarity with software configuration management (SCM) concepts and version control systems, especially Git
  • Experience in writing tests as part of CI pipeline code
  • Experience of load / performance testing
  • Experience of security / penetration testing
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux systems, including scripting skills
  • Experience of Chaos Engineering

Media, broadcast or OTT industry experience
