Customer Solutions Design Specialist (UCC) – Secure Communications

Salt is recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading organisation specialising in secure communication solutions for high-security environments. We are looking for an experienced Customer Solutions Design Specialist (Unified Communications & Collaboration – UCC) to join their Secure Design team.

Role Overview

The Customer Solutions Design Specialist will play a crucial role in designing and implementing highly secure, scalable, and efficient Unified Communication & Collaboration (UCC) solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and external technology providers to ensure that all solutions align with security frameworks, compliance policies, and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement end-to-end UCC solutions that meet the highest security and performance standards.
  • Capture technical requirements and translate them into comprehensive solution designs.
  • Oversee the technical architecture of VoIP, SIP, PBX, video conferencing, and enterprise mobility solutions.
  • Manage solution validation processes, ensuring compatibility with security and compliance frameworks.
  • Support customer migration planning, implementation, and impact assessments.
  • Lead technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and issue resolution for complex UCC environments.
  • Engage with key stakeholders and customers, acting as a trusted advisor for secure communications strategy.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge sharing within the team.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive expertise in Unified Communications technologies, including:
    • Fixed voice telecommunications (PBX, VoIP, SIP)
    • Video conferencing solutions
    • Enterprise mobility (4G/5G, EMM, MDM)
    • Cloud-based UCC solutions (PaaS, SaaS)
  • Strong experience with leading vendor technologies, such as Cisco, Juniper, Ericsson, Nokia, F5, Palo Alto.
  • Hands-on experience in designing, configuring, and commissioning UCC solutions in secure environments.
  • Security clearance: Candidates must hold or be eligible for UKSV Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.
  • Desirable Certifications:
    • Cisco CCNP Collaboration
    • Ribbon SBC-ISP
    • VMware VCP-EUC
    • Other relevant industry accreditations (e.g., Avaya, Atos, Blackberry, or equivalent UCC technologies)
  • Experience in highly regulated environments such as government, defence, or national security.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to balance technical excellence with cost efficiency.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders.
