Job Overview:

My banking client is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Lead engineer/architect with expertise in developing Faster Payments Scheme (FPS) or other instant payment gateways. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the FPS gateway infrastructure to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance. Additionally, they will lead the integration of the FPS gateway with internal systems and external partners, ensuring seamless and secure communication.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain the FPS gateway infrastructure to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance.
  • Lead the integration of the FPS gateway with internal systems and external partners, ensuring seamless and secure communication.
  • Perform regular performance monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning to optimize the FPS gateway’s performance and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to the FPS gateway in a timely manner, ensuring minimal impact on operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management, operations, and security to understand requirements and implement solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to faster payments and payment gateway technologies.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors and service providers to enhance and expand the capabilities of the FPS gateway as needed.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of disaster recovery and business continuity procedures to ensure the resilience of the FPS gateway infrastructure.

    • Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in designing, developing, and maintaining payment gateways, with a focus on Faster Payments Scheme (FPS) or other instant payment systems.
  • Expertise in distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud technologies (e.g., GCP, AWS, Azure).
  • In-depth knowledge of payment protocols and standards such as ISO 20022, ISO8583, and ISO8583 to ISO20022 conversion libraries/mapping.
  • Experience with message queuing systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) and stream processing frameworks (e.g., Kafka Streams).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and guide junior team members.
