Salt are recruiting a Software Engineering Manager for one of the most successful financial service businesses in Britain – having been founded over 60 years ago and growing to over 30,000 employees in that time.

However, despite being founded so long ago, they continue to innovate and demonstrate a progressive attitude in everything they do.

As a Software Engineering Manager, you will be joining an engineering leadership team of 9, who between them are responsible for a department of circa 200+ engineers which continues to expand.

You personally will be looking after multiple teams, so your reports may range anywhere from 40-60 reports.

It’s a very high-profile position where you’ll be recognised as a leader in software engineering, as you lead the wider participation in internal and industry wide events, conferences and other activities

As the Software Engineering Manager, you will play a leading role in planning, developing and deploying high performance robust and resilient systems for the bank, while leading engagements with senior stakeholders to explore and suggest appropriate technical solutions.

Your engineers will be working across a tech stack including: Java, Node.js, AWS/GCP and some on-prem, Apigee, Microservices and MongoDB.

They are looking for Engineering Leaders who have a strong software engineering background, with significant experience developing software within an SOA or microservices paradigm.

They are also looking for those people to have strong background in leading software development teams, introducing and executing technical strategies.

The salary for this Software Engineering Manager role ranges from £125,000 to £145,000 + 20% bonus, discretionary performance bonuses, 30 days holiday (plus bank holidays) and an industry leading paternity leave scheme of 12 months!

Their HQ is in Central London, so whilst they are a remote-first organization these days, you will need to be available to go in a maximum of 2 days per month.
