Senior Software Test Engineer

The Role:

We’re seeking a highly experienced and passionate Senior Software Test Engineer to join our financial services client in Sydney.

In this role, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring the quality, reliability, and security of software products. This role involves writing and maintaining automation test code, reducing issues in production, and collaborating with various teams to solve challenging business problems. You’ll leverage your deep expertise in testing methodologies, automation, and cloud technologies to build and maintain a robust testing infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and contribute to the development of comprehensive test strategies and plans.
• Write and maintain code in TypeScript for automation tests, using Playwright
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts using TypeScript and Node.js.
• Implement and execute various testing methodologies, including Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Utilize testing frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, and Selenium to automate UI and end-to-end tests.
• Ensure adherence to software security principles and best practices, including OWASP guidelines.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and work with DevOps tooling.
• Utilize AWS infrastructure and services (Lambda, EC2, EKS, SQS, RDS) for testing and deployment.
• Work with SQL databases, particularly Postgres, for data validation and testing.
• Use API development and test tools (Newman, Postman, SOAP UI) for API testing.

Required Skills and Experience:

• 5+ years of experience as a Software Test Engineer.
• Proven commercial experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
• Expertise in testing methodologies, TDD, and frameworks (Playwright).
• Experience designing and developing automation, integration, and performance testing platforms.
• Strong understanding of software security principles and best practices, including OWASP.
• Experience using cloud device farms (BrowserStack, AWS Device Farm).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling.
• Experience with AWS infrastructure and services (Lambda, EC2, EKS, SQS, RDS).
• Experience with SQL databases, particularly Postgres.
• Experience with API development and test tools (Newman, Postman, SOAP UI).
