About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our client’s team on a 12-month contract in Hungary. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in cloud data warehouse environments and a proven track record of working with AWS Redshift. You will play a key role in designing, optimizing, and maintaining scalable data solutions while ensuring best practices in data modeling and transformation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize data pipelines in AWS Redshift, ensuring performance and scalability.
• Use dbt for data transformation, model building, and collaborative development.
• Analyze query execution plans, tune SQL, and apply optimization techniques for Redshift performance.
• Implement and maintain robust data models, including dimensional modeling (Kimball), normalized, and hybrid strategies.
• Monitor data pipelines and warehouse performance using CloudWatch and Redshift Console.
• Contribute to CI/CD processes, data versioning, and best practices for collaborative development.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to support analytics and business intelligence initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

• 6+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on cloud data warehouses.
• Proven expertise in AWS Redshift (internals, WLM, distribution/sort keys, execution plan analysis, optimization).
• Hands-on experience with dbt for transformation and model building.
• Strong SQL skills with deep knowledge of performance tuning in Redshift.
• Solid understanding of data modeling principles (Kimball, normalized, hybrid).
• Experience with monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Redshift Console).
• Familiarity with data versioning, CI/CD pipelines, and collaborative dev practices in dbt.
