Menswear Designer (Denim)

Menswear Designer (Denim) – part time 3/4 days in Amsterdam on site – £400/day – ASAP start until the end of Jan (might extend)

Position Description and responsibilities:

As a Freelance Denim designer working in the Menswear Division you will be responsible together with the Denim Design Manager for designing and executing seasonal collections for the product category “Denim”. You will work closely with the Denim design manager, denim development team, merchandise team, and the Design Director. You will design and execute seasonal range plans for review by the Design Director and Creative Director. Among other you will be responsible for:

* Researching trends and performing market research that works into the client’s Menswear brand strategy

* Look into trends for the Womenswear denim and create with inspirational mood boards

* Selecting fabrics

* Keep fabric and garments library up to date and relevant.

* Creating innovative and outstanding washes with the factories.

* Focus on sustainability regarding fabrics selections and washes development.

* Working into elevating circularity design

* Working on new fits and details development with the technical fit team.

* Working under pressure within the Divisional Calendar to meet deadlines

* Illustrate and Photoshop design sheets and wash overviews for divisional presentations

* Preparing styles to be computerised and design sheets to be completed to a high standard for sending to buying offices globally.

* Participate to garment fittings and washes reviews

* Presenting seasonal collections to high management for reviews

* Managing and guiding junior denim designer who is supporting you in your tasks

* Create brand identity through seasonal trims and branding development.

* Working on BOM’s with the product developers

* Travel for efficient and relevant shopping trips and to factories for handover and inspiration

Requirements:

* Graduated from an BA or MA fashion program – preferably denim interest

* Love for denim, knowledge of denim fabrics, its colours, its texture, and its washes applied on it.

* Good eyes for the fits and silhouettes.

* Organised, enthusiastic, easy to adapt and flexible with changes

* Articulate and good at presenting

* Management skills required

* Illustrator/Photoshop must be mastered & hand illustration skills too

* Fluent in English both written and verbal as English is the working language of the company

* Is able to work in a hectic environment and has a hands on mentality.

* Work independently as well as in a team and that you also enjoy working in a busy environment.
