Data Engineer (SQL, Tableau) – Retail – Remote

Day rate: £300 – £350 (Outside IR35)

Duration: 9 months

My client is looking for a Data engineer contractor to join the team.

Overview:

• Maintain and steer the Business Intelligence backlog and priorities
  * Participate and lead scoping sessions with business stakeholders
  * Responsible for translating business requirements into a technical solution and ensure we find the right solution for the end-user
  * Communicate and design a technical architecture linked to source data, data models and reporting
  * Making sure to have a consistent technical direction of the data deliverables to ensure a future proof architecture

You will have:

• Hands-on experience as a Data Engineer, BI consultant, and or Data Analyst, ideally in Retail environment. We expect that you have a broad knowledge of common data platforms
• Be an expert in SQL with in-depth understanding of data structures & databases
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and communicate with senior business-leaders
• Previous experience working with several external development vendors and vendor management
• Agile approach, in a fast-moving and dynamic business environment where operations and business requirements might quickly change
• Bonus: Have experience with different source systems, including Tableau, Shopify Plus, NetSuite, Board

Data Strategy:

• Conduct a thorough assessment of the current data landscape, including data sources, data quality, and data governance
  * Define the organisation’s data strategy, outlining the vision, goals, and objectives for leveraging data
  * Develop a roadmap for implementing the data strategy, including prioritized initiatives and key milestones
  * Identify data gaps and recommend strategies for data acquisition, integration, and enrichment
  * Define data governance policies and processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance
  * Provide guidance on data infrastructure and technology stack required to support the data strategy

Reporting and Analytics:

• Identify key performance indicators and metrics
  * Design and develop a reporting framework that provides actionable insights and supports data-driven decision making
  * Define data visualisation standards and create intuitive dashboards and reports
  * Implement self-service analytics capabilities, empowering business users to explore data and generate ad-hoc reports
