DevOps engineer / Site reliability engineer / London / Perm / 70-80k dependant on experience

As a DevOps / SRE engineer you’ll help the company create and maintain best practices of running highly available services in production, enable efficient development and testing, and you’ll take part in defining and implementing smooth release processes. In addition, you’ll work together with business stakeholders to define Service Level Objectives and Indicators and make sure we have a proactively monitored, instrumented and predictable platform end to end. You will contribute to constantly innovating our tech as well as helping shape our engineering culture through learning, innovation, and sharing knowledge.

  • We use GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, Circle CI, Terraform, DataDog, GraphQL (Apollo), Node.js, Elixir / Erlang, RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL, Redis

REQUIREMENTS

  • Pragmatic Thinking
  • Experience with Linux, Kubernetes, Docker and scripting languages
  • Experience with continuous integration tools, administration of web servers and databases

  • Experience with running, monitoring and maintaining systems in production
  • Experience working with systems requiring 24/7 operation (high availability is beneficial)

  • How is the team/company culture?

We are product-driven (and flat-structure) organisation with strong focus on engineering. We are pragmatic, we try to move fast, but we also care about craftsmanship.

  • What management style or development methodology (e.g. Scrum, XP) does the team use? Do you use JIRA or Trello?

At the moment, we prefer the Kanban method. We use JIRA (and Confluence).

  • Does management have a technical background?

Our management come from different engineering disciplines who have strong trust in their product engineering team.

  • Which product/area of the product will I be working on?

Our aim is to build a culture that promotes understanding of the entire platform as well as being able to contribute anywhere in the stack.

  • How many people are on the team?

At the time of writing, there is 10 of us.

  • How do you handle working hours? Do you use time tracking?

We usually come in for the standup, otherwise we are pretty flexible.

  • What does the office environment look like? What hardware will I be using?

We are based in WeWork (Old Street for now). We use Apple hardware which will be provided based on your preference. Well-being is of utmost importance to us. You will see sports equipment around the office, a juice maker, and you will be able to use quiet space to recharge batteries.

  • How do people usually dress at the office? Does the team go out for lunch together?

Casual, there is no dress code. And yes, of course!
