Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Health care – London/remote

My new client are undergoing a large Infrastructure Refresh Programme to modernise, consolidate and strategically align our hosting and networking Infrastructure. They are looking for a Senior Engineer with strong Architecture skills to work with our Servers, Network & Security squad (SNS) to drive the design and implementation of required solutions include Application modernisation, SD-WAN refresh, Firewall upgrades, as well as leading on defining standards and compliance and regulatory activities.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proficiency in network architecture, protocols, and topologies.
  • Experience with virtualisation technologies such as VMware, Nutanix or Hyper-V.
  • Knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
  • Experience in the design and authoring of HL and LL designs in the infrastructure engineering.
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing complex infrastructure solutions.
  • Understanding of IT infrastructure principles and best practices.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and compliance requirements relevant to the organisation, e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms like Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
  • Expertise in server operating systems, particularly Windows Server and Linux distributions.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies and trends in infrastructure design and architecture.
  • Effective stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities/deliverables:

  • Lead on the technical authoring and implementation of key projects within the Infrastructure Refresh Programme, including but not limited to:
  • Application Modernisation
  • SD-WAN Refresh
  • Firewall Upgrades
  • Define and document a set of standards that meet current industry, ISO 27001 Compliance, NHS Compliance and Regulatory standards relating to infrastructure.
  • Lead on the assessment of all SNS-owned apps and services against the above standards and produce and action a remediation plan where non-compliance exists.
  • Proactively engage with wider business stakeholders to ensure all incoming requests meet the Infrastructure and Architecture requirements outlined in the Service Delivery model.
  • Includes supporting on the creation of HL and LL designs, alongside infrastructure planning, workshops and knowledge sharing sessions.
  • Ad-hoc support on SNS projects and deliveries as required, including on standard decoms, migrations, upgrades, and other infrastructure engineering work.
