Storage Engineer

Hampshire Contract / 3 months £300 - £325 per day

Storage Engineer – (NetApp FAS & E-Series) – Contract | Fleet | 3 months

My client have an urgent requirement for a Storage Engineer to work in Fleet on an initial 3 month contract.

Key Accountability’s

The Senior Storage Engineer reports into the VMware / Windows Team Leader. This role holds accountability for Storage Infrastructure service projects and production support.

· Ownership and leadership of technical resolution for high severity production incidents and Problems

· Adherence to company standards for change control, Storage security and Storage patterns.

· Take part in the technical team during disaster recovery and business continuity exercises

· Define operational procedures and documentation

· Provide on-call rota support where required

· Lead and define delivery requirements for Service Improvement Unit initiatives

· Design and lead internal projects and deliveries aligned with the Storage roadmap

· Support the architect and product teams in developing the Storage roadmap.

· Identify new technologies and services to transform the Storage service offering

· Mentor the global technical team to build a high-performing technical delivery environment

Person Specification

· Expert knowledge of administration of NetApp FAS and E-Series products

· Knowledge of the ITIL framework, vocabulary and best practices

· Expert in working with Vendor technical support staff, including vendor development teams

· Expertise in defining technical plans and procedures

· Expert in Configuration Management with a strong background in Scripting.

· Expert skills and a desire to automate functions

· Experience Data ONTAP Cluster-mode storage systems and related storage fabrics

· Experience of working in a highly regulated environment and the associated processes and tools

· Have a strong working knowledge of infrastructure components and the processes required to maintain the infrastructure

· Have a good understanding of the business areas and application / service components used and an appreciation of applications from both a technical and business perspective.

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

· NCDA NetApp Certified Data Administrator, Clustered ONTAP

· NCSE NetApp Certified Storage Installation Engineer, Clustered ONTAP

· Knowledge of NetApp cluster supported hardware platforms

· Proven skills in performing in-depth support, administrative functions, and performance management, general troubleshooting and root cause isolation, node configuration, and software and firmware upgrades. Ability to document and keep records. Knowledge of CIFS, NFS and iSCSI protocols in particular.

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

· NCIE NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer – SAN Specialist

· NCIE NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer – DATA PROTECTION Specialist

· WFA Workflow Automation

· Awareness or knowledge of Integration of NetApp and VMware for provisioning VM’s, backup and recovery, Inline data compaction technologies and scale-out storage for performance.
