Head of Product (FTC) – Content Discovery

Salt are excited to announce a partnership with a leading media organization, drawing together world-class journalism and live coverage that bring the nation together. As the business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Head of Product, Product Director or VP of Product to join the team and help them achieve their mission of becoming even more customer-focused, delivering a connected and seamless experience for their global audiences.

As a Head of Product you will be responsible for driving the strategy and prioritization of everything relating to user experience, recommendations, personalization and content discovery, unifying a portfolio of products and providing a single source of truth for users to access and discover the content they love.

You will work closely with other teams, including Editorial, Design, Engineering, Data Science, Product Analytics, Research, Delivery, and Marketing, to build and maintain a compelling product roadmap and backlog that drives growth, audience engagement, and retention. In the longer term you will play a pivotal role in defining what the next version of the product could look like and begin to shape a vision around this.

You will also act as a Product Leader, supporting a team of product managers at various levels, driving world-class Product practice and execution, whilst promoting a culture of rapid experimentation and prototyping, shipping value to users at pace.

Here are a few career highlights that would be particularly relevant:

  • Demonstrable experience of launching multiple successful large scale products to market (including new-to-market products) as a product manager
  • Expert understanding and ability to apply domain knowledge, market awareness, audience research and analytical insights to product strategy and planning
  • Experience working in partnership with senior business leaders with high influence
  • Line-management and mentoring experience, demonstrable evidence of leading teams and individuals – including personal and professional development of people managers and individual contributors
  • Experience and leadership in developing a culture of experimentation and innovation
  • Leadership in developing a culture of user research
  • Experience working with machine learning, artificial intelligence and/or search systems is a bonus

As part of the interview process, you’ll meet with the Head of Product for this part of the org, learn more about what Product Management means to the business and where you can deliver immediate impact and value.

There is a pragmatic approach to flexible, hybrid working and whilst contractually you will be linked to office work, every circumstance will be considered on a case by case basis, hopefully ensuring a good work-life balance, in an environment that is high performing, collaborative and autonomous.

If you are an experienced Product Leader, with the ambition of leaving a lasting imprint on a globally renowned business, who can leverage experience shaping consumer products from concept, thriving in an ambiguous, strategic environment, then please apply today for a confidential discussion around the role in more detail
