Salt has been retained to execute a senior search for a leading financial services provider.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the successful candidate will be responsible for driving the company’s Open Source and Inner Source initiatives.

You’ll work closely with various teams, including Engineering, Legal, Security, Business Ops, and Public Relations, to define what Open Source means within the org, build the open source community, and manage open source risk.

You will also promote co-creation, create internal and external networks, and maximise value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Open Source and Inner Source strategies.
  • Create and manage internal and external networks to promote co-creation.
  • Work with various teams to ensure compliance with licensing regulations.
  • Educate developers on open-source best practices and licensing.
  • Track and manage inventory of open-source software usage.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities by replacing paid-for software with open-source alternatives.
  • Contribute to external open-source projects to improve the brand.
  • Identify and share internal development projects that can be exploited for open-source use.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in Open Source and Inner Source Program Offices and initiatives.
  • In-depth knowledge of open-source licensing and compliance.
  • Familiarity with software development processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
