Interim CTO/Technology Advisor – Ecommerce business

Interim Technology Advisor | 3-6 month contract | Outside IR35 |

*Flexible/remote/hybrid working available (Client offices in London and Newcastle – occasional visits required)

The client: A leading eCommerce business and one of the largest and fastest-growing online print shops in the UK.

The challenge: My client is currently going through a re-platforming and requires a strong technology leader to join the senior leadership team to accelerate a slow-moving transformation, help drive the technology road-map and make some critical future-proofing decisions.

Day-to-day

Work with internal development team (~10 people) marketing team (~10 people) and the external offshore development team (Ukraine) and recruit best-in-class talent to accelerate and improve current ways of working.

We are looking at speaking to experienced, senior C-Level contractors who are available to start immediately and have previously worked in the retail and e-commerce space. You will be working alongside the current CTO, and working closely with the Commercial Director and Founder.

Expected outcomes:

• Develop a clear roadmap of the company’s technology and engineering plans
• Eliminate the need for a legacy code base, creating a tech infrastructure that is built for speed and scalability.
• Develop in infrastructure and technical architecture that can support growth
• Deliver a high-quality, highly scalable product aligned to the company’s work.
• Provide a platform to enable driven product and growth decisions
• Provide technical knowledge to support planning and specification builds.
• Set standards of quality and user focus across the engineering team.
• Outline hiring plans and audit offshore development teams

What we are looking for:

• Experience in operating in a B2C environment
• Proven success of delivering impact to an Ecommerce business engineering and infrastructure team
• Working knowledge of developing a tech infrastructure that is built for speed and scalability
• Evidence of having previously been through an ambitious growth journey with a successful outcome.
