MongoDB Administrator – Banking Client – Poland

Database Administrator duties and responsibilities
- Installing, tuning, and upgrading the infrastructures
- Proactively and regularly making recommendations for database improvements (policies, procedures & standards)
- Monitoring system performance and identifying problems that arise
- Responding in a timely manner to user-reported errors
- Protecting the database against threats or unauthorized access by establishing and maintaining security and integrity controls
- Ensuring that the database is adequately backed up and able to be recovered in the event of disaster
- Reporting on metrics regarding usage and performance
- Suggesting changes and improvements for database maintenance, performance, reliability, and protection
- Regularly liaising with IT project teams including database programmers
- Maintain detailed documentation of database design/architecture & configuration
This position includes participation in the watch duty role (24/7 on call for a total of about 7 to 10 days per month).
Database Administrator requirements
- 3+ years of experience in MongoDB database administration on premise and/or in Microsoft Azure (MongoDB Atlas)
- Hands on experience in the LifeCycle Management of MongoDB (installation, migration, upgrade, patching)
- Hands on experience with building and maintaining MongoDB replica sets and sharded cluster
- Good understanding in Performance Tuning and Query Optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Experience on MongoDB scaling across data centres with MongoDB HA strategies, including replica sets and sharding
- Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
- Experience in automating database administration tasks
- Hands on experience with hardening a database
- Experience in Privileged Access Management – authentication mechanisms like LDAP, Kerberos, Active Directory and SAML
- Experience in Python, shell scripting, Ansible playbooks and MongoDB tooling like Mongo Shell, Compass and OpsManager
- Experience working with Linux servers, including proper disk configurations
- Analytical mindset in troubleshooting and resolving database problems
- Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and documentation skills in English
- Team player highly organized with a sense of ownership
- Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to handle complex situations
Preferred candidates would also meet the following criteria:
- Mongo Certified DBA
- Experience with ServiceNow & Azure DevOps
- Experience with Ansible playbooks
- Experience with other database systems like PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server & Oracle will be considered as an asset
