Get to know Rachael Bailey, our HR Practice Director in London, UK.
Rachael literally fell into recruitment (like they all say) after graduating from university in Business Studies – recommended to take some temporary work with Office Angels and after a quick chat was asked the famous line “have you ever considered a career in recruitment…” Whilst working part time at Ealing Film Studios during her degree studies, she loved the idea of interviewing celebrities and seeing as she didn’t get her calling to join the broadcasting world – interviewing candidates seemed like the perfect compromise!
The following 2 decades led to her making a successful living from those early days of finding PA’s for city law firms to specialising across Finance and HR. Rachael spent over 10 years with Parkside, a specialist in corporate functions. Owned by Antal International – with 130 offices globally, it was here that she became part of the senior leadership team, managing large scale teams across London and the South-East. Her role advanced the company wide business development strategy and steer-headed the operating model to include core specialisms across HR, Business Support and Finance. In recent years, Rachael joined Oakleaf (HR Specialists) and was headhunted by HR competitors Frazer Jones to set up their Regional offices across the Home Counties and South-East.
Rachael has successfully established her HR network through active engagement with professionals in the field. She has achieved this by actively participating in the HR community, attending relevant events, and fostering connections with industry experts. Additionally, Rachael has organised tailored events such as roundtables, providing a platform for HR professionals to come together, share ideas, and gain valuable insights. Through her efforts, Rachael has built long-term relationships with individuals in the HR space. These relationships serve as a foundation for future collaborations and knowledge exchange. Rachael’s dedication and passion for HR have led her to acquire expertise in the field, positioning her as a valuable resource for Salt.

With a busy family to juggle (two children, son & daughter) Rachael has recently decided to transition from running (for those that heard her recent story on her running achievements you’ll appreciate this) to practicing pilates and yoga.
