Data Engineer – Remote

Job Title: Data Engineer (Fully Remote UK)

Salary: £70,000 per annum

My client seeks a talented, experienced Data Engineer to join a UK remote team. As a Data Engineer, you will work collaboratively with our data scientists, software engineers, and business analysts to design, build, and maintain scalable and robust data infrastructure and pipelines that enable us to process, store, and analyze massive amounts of data efficiently.

The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background in data engineering, focusing on designing and developing data processing workflows and systems in a virtualized environment. You should have experience in working with Python and the Pandas library (or similar) and demonstrate a deep understanding of different data storage, retrieval, encoding, and evolution techniques. You should also be familiar with different data formats such as JSON, CSV, and Parquet and know how to work with various data storage systems like Relational databases, NoSQL databases, Data Warehouses, and Data Lakes.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and maintain data infrastructure and pipelines that are scalable, reliable, and efficient.
• Work with stakeholders to understand their requirements and design data solutions that meet their needs.
• Develop ETL processes to extract data from different sources, transform it into the desired format, and load it into appropriate data storage systems.
• Optimize data pipelines and queries to ensure efficient data processing and retrieval.
• Develop automated testing and monitoring solutions to ensure the quality and reliability of the data pipelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide data engineering expertise and support.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
• Proven work experience as a Data Engineer.
• Strong experience in Python and the Pandas library (or similar) in a virtualized environment.
• Knowledge of different data storage, retrieval, encoding, and evolution techniques.
• Familiarity with different data formats such as JSON, CSV, and Parquet.
• Experience with different data storage systems like Relational databases, NoSQL databases, Data Warehouses, and Data Lakes.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
