UX Designer (Hybrid, Durban) 3-Month Contract with Potential to Go Permanent
Are you the type of person who gets unreasonably excited about user flows, spacing grids, and fixing that one misaligned button? Do you enjoy turning chaos into clarity and explaining (again) why “just make it pop” is not a design requirement? If so, we’d love to meet you.
We’re looking for a UX Designer to help us build intuitive, accessible, and downright delightful digital experiences. You’ll work across research, design, prototyping, and collaboration with people who mostly understand what UX is. This role is hybrid, based in Durban, and starts as a 3‑month contract with the potential to become permanent (if we both still like each other).
What You’ll Be Doing
- Conducting user research .
- Creating wireframes, prototypes, and user flows that actually make sense.
- Turning complex fintech/telco processes into simple, friendly experiences.
- Contributing to our design system, keeping things beautiful and consistent.
- Ensuring accessibility and compliance (because it does matter).
- Collaborating with Product, Engineering, Compliance, and other lovely humans.
- Iterating based on user insights, data, and occasionally harsh but useful feedback.
What You Need to Bring
Must-haves:
- 2-5 years’ experience in UX or interaction design.
- A portfolio that shows your design thinking and process.
- Proficiency in Figma / Sketch / Adobe XD (bonus points if you’ve cried over auto‑layout before).
- Understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript basics (you don’t need to code a spaceship, just speak the language).
- Experience designing for mobile-first and responsive products.
- Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards (alt text is your friend).
- Some knowledge of behavioural design and user psychology.
Nice-to-have:
- The ability to explain UX to someone who thinks it’s the same as graphic design (we believe in you).
