Field Service Technician | Agricultural & Heavy Equipment

Hastings, Hawkes Bay

Are you an experienced mechanic looking for a role that offers variety, autonomy, and the opportunity to work with modern agricultural and heavy equipment?

We are seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to join a well-established machinery business servicing the South Canterbury region. This role combines workshop-based work with on-site support for customers, providing plenty of variety and exposure to advanced agricultural and construction equipment.

About the Role

As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and maintaining a range of agricultural and heavy machinery. You’ll work both independently and as part of a supportive service team, delivering quality workmanship and exceptional customer service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
  • Servicing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment
  • Rebuilding and overhauling components to manufacturer specifications
  • Using diagnostic software and onboard machine technology
  • Completing service documentation accurately and efficiently
  • Providing breakdown support both on-site and in the workshop
  • Building strong relationships with customers
  • Maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Heavy Automotive, Diesel Mechanical, or equivalent trade qualification
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a mechanical repair environment
  • Experience working on agricultural, construction, earthmoving, or heavy transport equipment (preferred)
  • Good computer and technology skills
  • The ability to work independently and manage your workload
  • A strong commitment to health, safety, and quality standards
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
