Intermediate Data Engineer – Exciting Cape Town Fintech

We’re helping a South African fintech that’s reshaping digital commerce with QR payments, digital vouchers, loyalty programmes, and store cards. Their platform enables seamless, rewarding experiences for consumers while helping merchants process transactions, understand customers, and grow through actionable insights.

What you’ll do:

• Build and maintain scalable AWS-based ETL pipelines (Glue, Lambda, Athena, Step Functions, APIs).
• Ensure data quality, reliability, and governance across all pipelines.
• Work with analysts and data scientists to deliver BI-ready datasets and dashboards.
• Automate monitoring, alerts, and data workflows to drive efficiency.
• Optimise performance, cost, and scalability of the data platform.

What we’re looking for:

• 3-5 years’ experience in Data Engineering or similar.
• Strong Python + SQL skills; experience with AWS SDKs and boto3.
• Solid understanding of data modelling, ETL, and pipeline automation.
• Familiarity with BI tools, cloud monitoring, and governance best practices.
• Curious, proactive, and collaborative.
