Salt is hiring a ‘Synopsis Writer’ one who is versatile, creative writer to join the Product Merchandising team. In this role, you’ll help members navigate a sea of content by summarizing movies and television shows with concise, creative, and engaging synopsis. This requires a writer who can tackle many assignments with enough creative energy to make each synopsis sing. The ideal candidate is a skilled writer/editor who is an expert on Korean media and entertainment.
This is a 6-month extendable contract based in Singapore.
Responsibilities:
- In this role, you will craft engaging English-language synopses for a wide range of Korean visual content, including reality TV programs, documentary series, films and scripted drama series. A typical week will involve producing multiple synopses that not only convey the essence of each title but also appeal to diverse global audiences.
- You will collaborate closely with Creative Writing Strategists based in Korea to ensure that every synopsis reflects the creative intent, tone and cultural nuances of the original work. This partnership helps maintain alignment with broader creative and editorial goals.
- You will also uphold core editorial principles-accuracy, clarity, inclusivity and creativity-while developing descriptions that are both informative and emotionally resonant. Your writing should capture subtle narrative details, highlight culturally specific elements in accessible ways, and elevate each title through thoughtful, audience-aware storytelling.
Requirements:
- Full native proficiency in speaking, reading and writing in English.
- A good knowledge of Korean, especially being able to understand content without English subtitles
- Well-versed in Korean entertainment content or a mindset to learn about it across all genres
- Experience writing or editing articles, blog posts, reviews, or feature stories about film and TV
- Research skills to help you gather context about titles and quickly synthesize information from a variety of sources
- A selfless approach to contributing to a world-class editorial team
- Eagerness to embrace a culture of candid feedback
- Ability to work independently to deadlines
