Job Summary:

I am currently partnered with a leading British telecoms company that is on the hunt for an Internal Communications Manager to join the team. This role is replacing a leaver and will step into an already established role, working with a large internal communications team.

As an Internal Communications Manager, you will play a crucial role in enhancing and maintaining effective communication channels within the organisation. You will be responsible for developing and executing internal communication strategies, managing various communication channels, and ensuring that employees are well-informed and engaged. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, crafting compelling content, and leveraging various communication tools to foster a positive and inclusive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Internal Communications Strategy: Develop and implement an internal communications strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals, values, and culture.
  • Channel Management: Manage and maintain internal communication channels, including intranet, email newsletters, digital signage, internal social media platforms, and other relevant tools.
  • Content Creation: Create engaging and informative content, including articles, announcements, newsletters, videos, and presentations, to effectively communicate key messages and initiatives to employees.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with different departments and stakeholders to gather information, identify communication needs, and ensure consistent messaging across the organization.
  • Employee Engagement: Develop initiatives and programs to enhance employee engagement, including recognition programs, surveys, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Crisis Communication: Develop and implement crisis communication plans to effectively manage internal communication during critical situations or organizational changes.
  • Measurement and Analysis: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of internal communication efforts through metrics, feedback, and analytics, and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Brand Alignment: Ensure that internal communications are consistent with the organization’s brand guidelines, tone of voice, and values.
  • Training and Support: Provide guidance and support to employees and leaders on effective communication practices and channels.
  • Stay Up-to-Date: Keep abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in internal communications to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience in internal communications, corporate communications, or a related role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling and engaging content.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in using communication tools and platforms, such as intranet systems, email marketing software, content management systems, and social media platforms.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and measurement tools to track the effectiveness of internal communication efforts.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence others.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
