Planning Manager – Major Rail Project (Sydney)
We are partnering with a Tier 1 global rail construction organisation to appoint an experienced Planning Manager for a major rail project in Sydney about to commence. This is a key leadership role on a high-profile infrastructure project from its early stages.
Reporting to the Engineering & Design Manager, you will be accountable for all planning and scheduling outcomes, working closely with engineering, construction and project teams to deliver program milestones and performance targets.
Key Responsibilities :
· Lead all project planning and scheduling activities
· Develop and maintain integrated project programs, including critical path and milestones
· Monitor progress, manage change and implement recovery strategies
· Report on program performance, risks, variances and forecasts
· Manage planning-related risks and contingency planning
· Review and manage contractor schedules for compliance and quality
· Support commercial and claims activities with accurate time-based analysis
· Collaborating with project, engineering, construction teams & other stakeholders
· Lead what-if analysis and schedule optimization
· Mentor and guide the planning team
Selection Criteria:
· 10+ years’ current experience as a Planning Manager or Senior Planner on major rail or civil infrastructure projects
· Tertiary qualification in Engineering from a recognised institution
· Proven expertise in integrated scheduling, critical path and recovery planning
· Experience of major transport projects spanning design, construction and commissioning
· Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills
· Highly organised and self-directed, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments
