Staff Data Scientist

Imagine leading a data science team that drives innovative healthcare analytics while navigating the challenges of highly regulated data. Our client, a global leader in healthcare and marketing analytics, is establishing a new team in Kuala Lumpur and is looking for a Staff Data Scientist to lead technical and people initiatives, operationalise products locally and oversee production-grade data models.

In this role, you will combine technical leadership, people management, and delivery ownership, working closely with engineers, production teams, and senior stakeholders. Your guidance will shape how healthcare data is responsibly handled, modelled, and delivered to end users such as pharmaceutical companies.

What you will do:

• Lead and mentor a team in Malaysia
• Drive high impact data science initiatives, ensuring strong delivery, quality, and alignment with organisational goals
• Collaborate closely with software, platform, and infrastructure teams to build cohesive, production ready data and ML workflows
• Manage end to end cloud based data pipelines, from data ingestion to model deployment across modern cloud environments
• Ensure strict data governance, compliance, and responsible handling of sensitive healthcare and public datasets in a highly regulated domain

What we are looking for:

• 10-15 years overall experience, with 5-6 years hands-on in data science
• Strong programming skills in Python and Scala
• Experience with PySpark/Apache Spark and Kubernetes
• Hands-on experience with Databricks and Snowflake
• Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure and AWS.
• Working knowledge of ML libraries such as scikit‑learn, TensorFlow, or XGBoost.
• Deep understanding of working with data in a regulated environment
• Knowledge of cloud-native data platforms and infrastructure
