Look no further! We are searching for a talented individual to join my clients Platform Team, responsible for operating and scaling datacentres and hyperscale infrastructure to meet the growing global demand of their IAAS solution.

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring high availability and security across the infrastructure you manage. You’ll collaborate closely with colleagues from the platform, product, engineering, and support teams to deliver outstanding results. If you have a passion for continuous improvement and optimization, along with excellent troubleshooting skills, this is the perfect role for you.

Your passion and purpose

  • Manage and scale operating infrastructure across multiple, geographically distributed data centres and the hyperscale cloud.
  • Network infrastructure including Juniper / Cisco Network Equipment, Routing Protocols including: BGP, OSPF, NAT, IPSEC VPNs, DNS, Public Key Infrastructure, IP address management.
  • Hyperscale platforms, particularly Azure, including VMs, Networking, Express routes, AppServices, Blob Storage, App Insight, Azure Monitor.
  • Server infrastructure monitoring and management tools, preferably with Dell OME, Solarwinds Orion, Grafana.Windows Server 2012 R2 and later, including knowledge of OS features such as Active Directory, Group Policy Management, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), Windows Deployment Services (WDS), and PowerShell.
  • Linux server environments, Kubernetes, Docker.
  • Virtualisation technologies, preferably both clustered VMware ESXi and Hyper-V.
  • Security hardening, vulnerability scanning, and resolution with technologies like Nessus.
  • Monitor and maintain performance and availability of the environments.
  • Keep operating environments up-to-date and secure.
  • Rapidly respond to and resolve incidents like outages or hardware failures.
  • Document activities and participate in change control processes.
  • Strong technical background with experience in managing a substantial operating environment.
  • Extensive experience working with server hardware, networks, operating systems, and virtualisation.

Your Story

  • Degree in Business, IT, or Computer Sciences discipline.
  • Driving license with the option to use a car occasionally.
  • Minimum of 5 years working in system administration or infrastructure-focused role.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, including remote teams.
  • Service mindset with a passion for availability and efficiency.
  • Full driving license valid in the UK and access to a vehicle.
