Network Engineer

Network Engineer – Contract | Worthing | 6 months

Tasks:

– Install, maintain, and repair the LAN physical infrastructure to ensure proper functionality and performance. This would be mainly via remote access, though in rare occasions some travel may be necessary.

– Assist with planning of new or upgraded network environments

– Manage all network device back-up and restore

– Carry out troubleshooting of issues involving network equipment

– Monitor service alerts and to takes appropriate action to resolve issues

– Monitor network system performance and escalate significant events

– Maintain records in the configuration management database

– Implement configuration scripts

Technical Skills:

– Good working knowledge and experience in a Cisco environment,

– Knowledge of Checkpoint Firewalls, Demonstrates excellent troubleshooting skills, Intruder Detection Systems, LAN & WAN, Routing Protocols, eg OSPF

– Customer focused

– Network Monitoring skills

– Good communication skills

– Ability to be flexible

– Interpersonal skills

– Ability to deliver to SLAs

– Cisco Certifications, CCNA, CCNP

– Cyberguard skills

– Excellent knowledge of Cisco IOS and network devices including switches and firewalls (both Virtual and Physical

– Knowledge of Juniper and Netscalers would be an advantage

– Knowledge of WAN technology (MPLS, VPN etc.) would be an advantage

– Knowledge of networking within an Azure environment would be an advantage

– Knowledge of Solarwinds Network Configuration Manager would be an advantage

– Ability to produce infrastructure designs including wiring standards, network protocols, network addressing, subnetting and DNS.
