Senior Infrastructure Lead (Managed Service Provider – MSP, VMware, ESXi, Storage) – Digital Retailer – London

Rate: £600 – £700 pd

Role:

You will be working as part of a larger team covering a spectrum of technologies in a modern hybrid enterprise environment where large interdependencies make up a complex, yet successful infrastructure capability.

You will drive and be accountable for the outcomes the business requires in relation to your specific services.

This means that you will be working effectively with Partners and our strategic third party Managed Service providers to ensure successful delivery of the service strategy whilst managing operational risks throughout.

Key Extra notes from the Hiring Manager MUST HAVE this experience:

• In respect of managing an MSP 4 years plus (ideally at one place) should be fine
• In terms of a larger scale, we are referring to the size of your infrastructure estate, and company.
• Just to add that the client has a large IT organisation working with a large strategic MSP for infrastructure.
• In the Infrastructure department alone, the number of Partners/employees is probably in the region of 500 people, possibly more.
• Wrt infrastructure teams, we have approx 15 teams covering several technology areas such as Windows/VMware, Identity & Access Management, Storage & Backup, Data Centre, AIX & Linux, Cloud, Automation, Middleware, PKI, Database, Mainframe, Capacity Management, EUC and Networks.
• Wrt infrastructure estate, here we have:
• approx 10000 Virtual Machines (running Linux and Windows)
• approx 500 AIX lpars
• Mainframe

Key Responsibilities include:

• Develop working relationships with key business stakeholders and build understanding of the commercial, technical, and operational landscape and business strategy
• Be the service owner for key technology towers, in particular Data Centre Hosting, VMware,

Storage, Backup, Wintel, and Active Directory

• Work collaboratively with internal and external engineering teams
• Deliver value by driving quality, efficiency and cost effectiveness from all infrastructure management contracts.
• Manage suppliers and vendors to ensure Infrastructure remains secure, stable, robust and performant.
• Ensure that the services provided by vendors and managed service suppliers deliver against agreed SLAs, key metrics, and statements of work.
• Use your knowledge of the end to end hosting services and an understanding of its consumption by the business to develop a forecast of demand for the service and (by extension) the vendor’s services.
• Influence decisions in relation to the vendor and provisioning of service for your platforms.
• Work with Architecture to ensure deliverables are aligned with the business and technical strategy, producing business cases to deliver change and innovation.
• Ensure full life cycle management is planned, managed and delivered across the infrastructure estate; with published and managed roadmaps.
• Be the authoritative point of escalation for your technology platforms.
• Working closely with the Service Management and Integration (SIAM) function to shape and provide measurement of success of the critical SIAM capabilities, including Incident, Capacity, Problem and Change Management.
