The Role

The successful candidate will be passionate about cloud-native technology and thrive on being at the cutting edge. A passion for live music and audio technology would be a bonus.

With our growing DevOps delivery team, the role of Cloud Backend Engineer is becoming increasingly important to provide a scalable, secure, high-availability cloud platform to support the growing needs of the business. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with agile delivery of enterprise-grade, mission-critical code which can scale with the needs of a rapidly expanding audience.

Who you are

• A proven professional, with at least 5 years’ experience in backend API development.
• Competent at creating microservices using Go, Rust, C++ or similar.
• Passionate about producing beautiful, well-designed, easily maintainable, scalable, and reusable code.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure – including AKS, Cosmos DB, Storage and Front Door.
• Experienced with Grafana Cloud and the associated technology stack (Prometheus, Loki etc.).
• Experienced at building distributed cloud REST APIs with microservices and containers.
• A strong understanding of container orchestration concepts – experience with Kubernetes is a plus.
• Comfortable working with CI/CD tools, Agile methodologies, and Test-driven development.
• Experience with event-driven architecture best practices is a plus.
• Relational/SQL and NoSQL database experience would be beneficial (e.g., PostgreSQL/MongoDB).

What the job involves

• Coding new cloud features to support connected devices using Go.
• Delivering clean code by utilising both TDD and BDD practices.
• Document your code properly to enable self-service use of Cloud REST APIs through Backstage.
• Leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) patterns to accelerate software deployment.
• Collaborate with the rest of the team to improve telemetry collection capabilities using Grafana Cloud.
• Collaborate with other teams when necessary.
• Contribute to team’s backlog and roadmap planning.
• Collaborate on User Stories definition and requirement collection with internal customers.
• Work in an agile manner to deliver value more frequently and effectively to users.
• Retain a strong focus on business outcomes.
• Consistently demonstrate best practice design and development techniques.
