We’re looking for a talented 3D Character Artist to join a Melbourne-based immersive technology studio creating next-generation XR, real-time and interactive experiences. This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the cutting edge of immersive tech, bringing believable, high-quality digital characters to life for VR, AR and mixed reality platforms.
You’ll collaborate closely with artists, technical teams and developers to deliver characters that are visually compelling, performance-optimised and production-ready.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Create high-quality realistic 3D characters from concept through to final in-game/real-time assets
- Model, sculpt and texture characters using industry-standard workflows
- Produce optimised assets suitable for real-time engines (Unity / Unreal)
- Create clean topology, UVs and textures with performance in mind
- Work with rigging, animation and technical teams to ensure characters deform and perform correctly
- Iterate on assets based on creative and technical feedback
- Contribute to look development and help maintain consistent visual quality across projects
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a 3D Character Artist in games, VFX, XR or real-time production
- Strong skills in tools such as ZBrush, Maya/Blender, Substance Painter/Designer
- Solid understanding of anatomy, form, proportion and surface detail
- Experience including realistic character pipeline work
- Knowledge of PBR workflows and optimisation for real-time platforms
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, creative environment
- A strong portfolio showcasing character work (stylised and/or realistic)
Nice to Have
- Experience working in Unity or Unreal Engine
- Understanding of XR/VR performance constraints
- Knowledge of rigging, skinning or animation workflows
- Experience with facial blendshapes or performance capture pipelines
