The role:
- Reporting to the GM – IT , handling 3 to 5 direct reportees including Practice Managers, RTEs and approx. 30 to 40 indirect reports which includes contractors from other agencies/providers, this role is an acting appointment for an initial period of six months. The permanent Head of Delivery is currently seconded to provide delivery governance to a major Cornerstone delivery programme within Group Shared Services (GSS) – a large, organisation-wide transformation initiative. Working closely with wider stakeholders like Data, Customer Experience, P&C, Scrum Master practice, supporting all practices, BAU work in technology.
- During this period, we are looking for an Acting Head of Delivery who can provide strong, practical leadership through this change – someone who can stabilise delivery performance, strengthen how we work, and maintain momentum across the delivery community.
- This is not a traditional PMO or portfolio role. It’s a senior leadership role that blends delivery leadership, organisational change, and people leadership at scale.
- The Acting Head of Delivery is accountable for ensuring the organisation continues to deliver complex change in a reliable, ethical and sustainable way, while maintaining a strong delivery system and connected delivery community during a critical transformation period.
The ideal candidate:
· A senior delivery leader who is a heavy hitter in delivery perspective, good experienced with Scaled Agile, can take the delivery level to the next level and actually make use of the funding available.
· Has led large, complex delivery portfolios (not just individual programmes).
· Has worked closely with senior leaders, Boards or executive teams.
· Has built or evolved delivery models in complex organisations.
· Has experience across both technology and business change.
· Is a strong people leader – comfortable coaching, developing and supporting leaders and teams.
· Brings credibility in governance, risk and transformation contexts.
· Takes a pragmatic, practical approach rather than being wedded to a single framework.
· Is comfortable working in politically nuanced environments, able to build trust and navigate competing priorities.
· Can step into a new environment quickly, build relationships fast, and maintain momentum with minimal handover.
· This is a system leadership role, focused on holding and strengthening delivery capability during a critical transformation period, rather than running individual projects or programmes. (apply accordingly)
