About
Our client is a leading VFX studio delivering high-end visual effects for feature films, premium episodic content and streaming platforms worldwide. Their work spans large-scale environments, invisible effects and complex CG integrations, produced by a collaborative team of artists working at the highest industry standards.
We are seeking a Digital Matte Painting Artist to join the environments team and help create photorealistic worlds that seamlessly integrate into live-action and CG shots.
The Role
As a DMP Artist, you will be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality digital environments and set extensions across a range of projects. You will take ownership of shots, contribute creatively to the look development process, and collaborate closely with Lighting, Compositing, FX and Layout teams.
This role suits an artist who is confident working independently, comfortable with complex briefs, and motivated to push visual quality while meeting production deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Create photorealistic digital matte paintings, environments and set extensions
- Deliver high-quality 2.5D and 3D DMP work suitable for feature film and episodic pipelines
- Use Nuke for camera projections, multi-card setups and shot integration
- Build and refine base geometry using 3D software (e.g. Maya, Houdini, Blender)
- Ensure accurate lighting, perspective, scale, colour and atmosphere matching
- Collaborate with VFX Supervisors, Art Directors and Production teams
- Take ownership of assigned shots or sequences from brief to final delivery
- Support and mentor junior artists where required
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience in a professional VFX or animation studio
- Strong portfolio demonstrating photorealistic environments and set extensions
- Advanced knowledge of Nuke (essential)
- High proficiency in Photoshop and photo manipulation
- Solid understanding of cinematography, composition and lighting
- Experience working with 3D workflows and projections
- Ability to work independently under production pressure
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
