Java Engineer

Salt is currently hiring a Java Engineer for a client of ours in Amsterdam. The role can be done remotely within in Europe.

We are looking for a Software Developer responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable software solutions. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality applications, improve system reliability, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software applications using modern development frameworks and best practices
• Write clean, reusable, and maintainable code
• Implement and maintain automated testing to ensure software quality
• Participate in system design, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making
• Monitor application performance and troubleshoot production issues
• Contribute to incident resolution, root cause analysis, and documentation
• Support continuous delivery, deployment, and operational processes
• Collaborate with product, QA, and engineering teams to deliver business requirements
• Identify opportunities for performance, process, and system improvements

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• 3-5 years of software development experience
• Strong experience with:
  • Java
  • Spring Boot
  • Kafka
  • SQL / NoSQL databases
• Experience with test automation and scalable system design
• Good understanding of software architecture and distributed systems
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Nice to Have

• Experience with AWS technologies
