Machine Learning Scientist

Salt is currently hiring a Machine Learning Scientist for a client of ours in Amsterdam.

Role is for someone with ZZP/KVK and is paying 117 euros per hour for 6 months.

Job Title: Senior Machine Learning Scientist

Key Responsibilities

• Research and apply state-of-the-art techniques in ML, GenAI, NLP, Computer Vision, and multimodal AI.
• Train, fine-tune, evaluate, and optimize ML and LLM-based models.
• Design experiments, define success metrics, and conduct data and model analysis.
• Develop clean, reusable, and scalable ML frameworks and code.
• Work with ML Engineers to optimize models for latency, throughput, scalability, and production deployment.
• Partner with Product, Data Science, Engineering, and Analytics teams to translate business needs into ML solutions.
• Contribute to technical strategy, research initiatives, and best practices across the AI organization.
• Mentor colleagues and provide technical leadership.

Qualifications & Skills

• Advanced experience in Machine Learning, NLP, Computer Vision, and Generative AI.
• Experience developing and deploying ML models at scale and delivering measurable business impact.
• MSc + 3 years or PhD + 2 years of relevant industry/research experience.
• Master’s, PhD, or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, AI, Physics, or a related field.
• Strong experience with large-scale data, experimentation, model development, optimization, and software engineering.
• Strong Python skills and experience with technologies such as Java, SQL, Spark, Kafka, or Hadoop.
• Experience with version control and production ML practices.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Research contributions through publications, patents, open-source projects, or similar work are preferred.
