Technical Product Manager – Payment Integrations
A high-growth fintech business is looking for a deeply technical Product Manager to take ownership of a mission-critical payments and integrations platform. This team powers millions of transactions and works at the heart of online and in-store payment experiences across South Africa.
This is not a “business-only” Product role. You’ll be embedded with Engineering, owning API and integration strategy end-to-end while helping scale a modern payments ecosystem. If you enjoy solving complex technical problems, improving platform reliability, and working closely with developers on architecture and integrations, this is the kind of challenge that will keep you engaged.
What you’ll be doing
- Owning the roadmap for APIs, SDKs, webhooks, merchant plugins, and payment integrations
- Driving API strategy, versioning, developer experience, and platform scalability
- Partnering closely with Engineering on architecture decisions and system design
- Defining technical requirements including API contracts, data models, and integration flows
- Leading delivery across integrations, certifications, testing, and production rollouts
- Improving platform reliability, transaction success rates, latency, and observability
- Working with PSPs, gateways, and technical partners to improve integrations and capabilities
- Supporting commercial teams with technical feasibility and integration assessments
What they’re looking for
- Strong experience as a Technical Product Manager working on APIs, platforms, or integrations
- Solid payments or fintech exposure, ideally involving gateways, PSPs, or transaction flows
- Deep understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, authentication, integrations, and distributed systems
- Ability to write detailed technical specifications and work confidently with engineers
- Exposure to tools like Postman, Datadog, Splunk, SQL, or similar platforms
- Someone commercially aware who can connect technical decisions back to customer and business impact
- A hands-on, detail-oriented mindset with a strong focus on reliability and scalability
Why this role?
- Work on high-scale fintech infrastructure with real impact
- Join a product-led environment with strong technical teams
- Exposure to modern payment technologies, APIs, and platform engineering
- A role with genuine ownership, complexity, and growth potential
- Opportunity to shape how merchants integrate and transact at scale
Cape Town-based role with a collaborative and fast-moving team environment.
If you enjoy technical depth, platform thinking, and building reliable payment experiences, this is a very exciting opportunity to explore.
