Purpose:

  • The client is undertaking a large-scale business transformation programme which will design and implement a new Target Operating Model (TOM) for the finance function across the business. The scope includes developing the new TOM, selecting and integrating new enterprise-wide software, and reengineering core business processes to aid the org. to achieve both operational and strategic objectives. Design, build, test and deployment of the new solution across the business including change management and organisational impacts are all in scope of the position.
  • Deliverables: Programme Leadership, Programme Governance & Compliance, Programme Planning, Stakeholder management, Financial and Resource management, Quality and Delivery management, Programme Controls, Benefits realisation, Change and Adoption, Te Tiriti O Waitangi, Equity.

The role:

  • Reporting to the COO , dotted line to CFO and Program Steering Committee. Works closely with Head of Strategic Programs & Projects, Head Organisation performance and improvement and other stakeholders include Project Sponsors, Business owners, Key programme and project stakeholders, External suppliers and Programme team members consisting of Change leadership, Delivery Stream, Project & Programme members, Data & Architecture, External parties amounting to 100+.
  • The role is a senior, enterprise wide Programme Director position, with accountability extending well beyond Finance to ERP delivery, operating model change, governance, risk and cross functional transformation.
  • There is a clear roadmap for a strategic ERP change and the 1st change happened in the form of Agile systems replacement and HR business transformation. The 2nd phase will focus on Financial business transformation and ERP enterprise transformation replacing the 90’s core Financial ERP system.
  • Program budget accountability – 50 to 100m$
  • Short term focus: Moving program from mobilisation stage towards delivery stage across the entire organisation.
  • The Programme Director will have the discretion to restructure or augment the programme team, including external support partners, with guidance and approval from Leadership.

The ideal candidate:

Essential

  • Proven experience in large scale complex programmes of similar duration and budget with successful outcomes with relevant seniority (Director/ Head of equivalent/C-level reporting equivalent). [This is not a programme manager / Senior Programme Mngr role ].
  • Experience with Enterprise Finance ERP transformation program. (IMPORTANT)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-year $40m+ (approx.) similar programmes. (IMPORTANT)
  • Detailed experience in implementing a specific ERP solution is not essential however we would expect that candidates would have had experience in leading significant transformation across major ERP systems. (NON-NEGOTIABLE)
  • Expertise in stakeholder engagement and strategic planning in a complicated institution. (IMPORTANT)

Preferred

  • Not very specific regarding certifications but strong knowledge project management methodologies.
  • Candidates with background in Government, Councils, Large Enterprise, Education, Big4 & Consulting institutions preferred. Experience in handling large scale transformation and change management. Should be able to handle resistance to change coming from other departments.
  • Willing to embrace Ahuatanga Maori (values, culture & tikanga) and other New Zealand leaderaship values [Important] …..(will share details of the same later once your cv is shortlisted).
