Technical Program Manager

Salt is currently hiring a Technical Program Manager for a client of ours in Amsterdam.

We are seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) with a proven track record of leading large-scale, cross-functional software development programs. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with exceptional program management skills and thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments where ambiguity and competing priorities are common.

This role requires someone who can drive strategic initiatives while also remaining hands-on when needed to remove obstacles, align stakeholders, and deliver results. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of software architecture, product development, and modern delivery methodologies.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience leading large, cross-organizational software development programs.
• Strong technical background in:
  • Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)
  • Software product development
  • Java-based applications and distributed systems
  • XML and messaging protocols
  • Web Services and API-driven architectures
  • Software build and deployment processes
• Solid understanding of Agile delivery methodologies, release management, and software development lifecycle (SDLC) best practices.
• Ability to balance business objectives with technical constraints while driving execution across multiple teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with project sponsors, business stakeholders, product teams, and engineering leaders to define program objectives and successfully deliver strategic initiatives.
• Develop and manage program plans, timelines, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables across multiple teams and workstreams.
• Anticipate bottlenecks, proactively manage escalations, evaluate trade-offs, and balance business priorities with technical considerations.
• Identify, assess, track, and mitigate risks and issues across programs, ensuring timely resolution and stakeholder visibility.
• Establish clear communication channels and provide concise, accurate, and professional status reporting to stakeholders at all levels.
• Create, maintain, and distribute program documentation, project plans, and progress updates.
• Demonstrate strong technical curiosity and the ability to understand and discuss architectural designs, system integrations, and technical implementation challenges.
• Apply SDLC and Agile best practices while coordinating delivery across teams using a variety of development methodologies and operating models.
• Build and maintain integrated project schedules that account for internal and external dependencies, resource constraints, varying delivery approaches, and risk contingencies while maintaining an execution-focused mindset.
• Drive cross-functional alignment, facilitate decision-making, and ensure successful program outcomes from initiation through delivery.
