Job Title: Firmware Project Lead

I am seeking a skilled and experienced Firmware Project Lead to join a dynamic team in Salisbury. As a Firmware Project Lead, you will be critical in developing embedded software for our cutting-edge products. This is the perfect opportunity if you are passionate about firmware development, possess strong leadership skills, and thrive in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Concept phase: Collaborate with Marketing and Engineering teams to create embedded software definitions and initial development proposals.
  • Feasibility phase: Conduct an in-depth analysis of product design specifications from a software development perspective. Develop realistic and achievable development plans in collaboration with the software development team.
  • Development phase: Break down project requirements into detailed work units for the development team. Work closely with developers to identify technical requirements for each feature and provide estimates for completion.
  • Agile duties: Implement appropriate agile processes for the development team, including daily standups, backlog refinement sessions, sprint reviews, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Project reporting: Ensure accurate and regular project progress updates to key stakeholders at the group level, working closely with the Project Management team.
  • Third-party management: Coordinate with third-party development partners as needed, ensuring effective communication and overcoming language barriers. Occasional overseas travel may be required.
  • Maintenance release planning: Prioritize and address bugs and feature additions through regular maintenance releases-balance customer problem resolution with the New Product Development schedule with the software test and development teams.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in firmware development and project management.
  • Strong technical background in embedded systems and software development.
  • Proficiency in agile methodologies and experience implementing them effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas to diverse teams.
  • We have a proven track record in managing third-party development partners.
  • Experience coordinating with software test departments and implementing test plans for quality improvement.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
