Test Engineer

Salt is currently looking for a QA Automation engineer(freelance) for a client of ours in Amsterdam.

This is an ASAP start, until end of year. Requirement is for kvk/zzp and paying 100 euros an hour.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior SDET to drive quality through automation and modern testing practices. You will build scalable test frameworks, embed quality throughout the SDLC, and ensure applications are reliable, secure, and performant, including AI-enabled solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain automated tests across API, integration, and UI layers.
• Embed automation into CI/CD pipelines and improve testing processes.
• Define and monitor quality metrics and test strategies.
• Test distributed systems, microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, and AI-driven applications.
• Evaluate testing tools and frameworks, and mentor teams on quality best practices.
• Contribute to incident analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• 6-8 years’ experience in SDET, Test Automation, or Quality Engineering.
• Strong programming skills in Java or JavaScript.
• Experience with automation tools such as Playwright, JUnit, TestNG, Mockito, REST Assured, Postman, or JMeter.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps/TFS, or similar).
• Experience testing distributed systems and APIs (REST/gRPC).
• Familiarity with AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT).
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, microservices, and modern architectures.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience testing AI-powered systems and Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools and workflows.
