Internal Communications Specialist
Melbourne CBD
2-3 days onsite per week
(6 – 12 Month engagement)
Our client is seeking an experienced Internal Communications Specialist to help keep employees informed, engaged, and equipped to deliver organisational strategy. This role blends strategic communication leadership with strong hands-on delivery, working as a key integrator across internal messaging, channels, and leader communication.

What you’ll do
- Lead the planning and delivery of internal communication initiatives across the organisation.
- Ensure employees receive timely, clear, and engaging communication that supports strategy, culture, and change.
- Act as the connection point between internal messaging, channels, and leaders to create a consistent narrative.
- Govern, optimise, and support others to use SharePoint Online effectively
- Produce high-quality content across multiple channels including intranet, email, Teams, events, and short-form video.
- Tailor content to different audiences, simplifying complex or sensitive information into plain English.
- Partner with executives, leaders, and P&C teams to drive alignment and follow-through.
- Support communication needs during periods of organisational change.
- Measure communication effectiveness using data and insights to continuously improve.
- Help embed communication governance frameworks and rhythms across the business.
What you bring
Essential
- Proven experience leading enterprise-wide internal communication and/or change communication programs.
- Strong planning, sequencing, and prioritisation across multiple messages and audiences.
- Expertise in SharePoint Online administration, optimisation, and governance.
- Channel versatility-able to choose the right channel for the message and craft content accordingly.
- Strong storytelling and writing skills, with the ability to simplify complex content.
- Understanding of content design principles and employee-centric communication.
- Working knowledge of digital and design tools (SharePoint, Canva, Adobe Suite), including basic internal video capture.
- High EQ and sound judgement when handling sensitive or confidential communication.
- Ability to build strong relationships and influence decisions using communication insight.
- Solid understanding of organisational change principles.
Desirable
- Experience supporting communication during major transformations.
- Familiarity with systems like SharePoint Online, Culture Amp, ELMO, LinkedIn Learning.
- Awareness of AI and digital tools that enhance communication and employee experience.
