Contract Senior Software Engineer (React, Python)

• Work for a top-notch brand in the Energy space
• Client has been around for 30 years, offering only energy products until 2017 when they launched telecommunication services
• Dynamic, tech-led organisation with more than 1,200 people country-wide doing the mahi and getting the treats.
• As one of New Zealand’s largest energy generators and retailers, they have over 670,000 customer connections with electricity, gas, broadband and mobile plans
• Currently operate 37 power sites across New Zealand, using geothermal, hydro and thermal energy to generate electricity
• Acquired another Energy company recently
• Open environment and a small and well-knit team.
• Playing a big part in their Platform Integration projects
• Contract role ; 6months
• Remote role / WFH
• Auckland based as you might need to meet for meetings as and when required
• Immediate joining preferred
• Payrate: $100 to $125 per hour (approx., negotiable based on experience & domain match)
• 40hours per week

The role:

• Reporting directly to the Chapter Lead, part of the squad that is working towards integration of another Energy company that they have recently acquired.
• As a contractor, will hit the ground running and provide technical direction and guidance whenever required to the wider development team.
• Develop applications in coordination with stakeholders and subject matter experts.
• Follow Software Development LIfecycle (SDLC) processes and support continuous improvement culture.
• Ensure solutions meet customer needs within scope, schedule, and budget.
• Maintain accuracy and timeliness of output.
• Mentor junior engineers and transfer knowledge effectively.
• Identify and assess risks within your subject matter area, lead risk-related dialogue as the SME for that domain, and support stakeholders in making informed, risk-based decisions.
• Mitigate risks in delivery while keeping to agreed plan and timeframes.
• Looking for a senior/Lead level contract developer who would be working as a part of the team.

The ideal candidate:

· Experience (minimum 12 to 15yrs+) as a Senior / Tech Lead in commercial development as a Full stack developer. Tech Stack : React (STRONG), Typescript, Python (STRONG), AWS. (non negotiable)

· Energy/Utility industry preferred but not important.

· Seasoned contractors preferred. Anyone looking to venture into the contracting space with strong relevant stack experience is also welcome.

· Should be based in Auckland or be able to relocate to Auckland preferred as this role might need team meetings once in a while as required.

· To be able to adapt, team fit in terms of being approachable, be a part of team activities and add value to discussions over technical issues as well as mentoring junior permanent developers.
